THE INCIDENCE OF PERITONITIS IN CAPD PATIENTS: EVALUATION OF THE PERIOD BEFORE AND AFTER Y-SET (DISCONNECT SYSTEM APPLICATION)

Abstract

In this study, the incidence of peritonitis in patients undergoing CAPD tretment has been evaluated regarding standart connection techniques and Y-set disconnect system applications. During the standart connection system application period,we observed one peritonitis episode per 5.6 patient-months (2.1 pritonitis attack per parient per year). During the Yset disconnect system application period, one peritonitis episode per 10.1 patient-months (1.2 peritonitis attack per parient per year). The incidence of peritonitis episodes between the two periods is found to be significantly different (p<0.005).
