Abstract

Patients with end stage renal disease are frequently affected by psychiatric symptoms. These cases may commit suicide as a result of symptoms such as depression, anxiety and sexual dysfunction. We report a 46-year-old man who was undergoing hemodialysis because of chronic renal failure, refused further therapy due to his socio-economic and psychological problems and commited suicide by cutting dialysis catheter with a knife. This rare and interesting suicide case is reported. Psychologic evaluation and support in dialysis patients merits to be emphasized.
